Separation Season

Deep Squats (Thoughts)

We had some great responses to the “Drop-In” suggestion in the last email. Michelle dropped into CrossFit Zone in Vancouver, Canada with Mia. Diego dropped into The Workshop in Dublin, Ireland. The Dymmels dropped into Iron Tide CrossFit in Morehead City, NC for a team workout on Thanksgiving Day.

I LOVE hearing about your drop in experiences for so many reasons. Perhaps my favorite is seeing people getting after it when most people are taking time off. That leads perfectly into my favorite time of the year. Separation Season.

Separation Season is the phrase I got from Ed Mylett a few years ago, but it is a concept that I’ve used for many decades and is what I attribrute much of any success that I’ve had in sports, CrossFit and business.

Ed uses the idea that some will turn a holiday into a holi-week or a holi-month. Instead, use this time to make a difference in your life. Stay aggressive at the end of this year and you’ll be glad you did when January rolls around. We all have parties and extra food during this time. Double down on your commitment to yourself and your family by making it to your classes this month and abstaining from choices that will not help you get where you want to be. You won’t be sorry and you’ll create separation with your competition and with your old self.

Let me know what you think and even some of the ways you are “separating” in this season.

See you in class.

Emmett Otter’s Jug Band Christmas

Emmet and Ma Otter are very poor, but they are very happy and talented singers. Christmas is around the corner, and they both want to get the other a very special present. The prize in the talent show is $50. Both Emmet and Ma get a song ready for the competition; Emmet forms a jug band, and Ma practices alone, to vie with the Riverbottom Gang.

Tim’s Takeaway: An absolute classic that I was reminded of this week. Not sure if my kids have seen this yet. BUT THEY WILL! It’s less than an hour. Tell me what you, or your kids, think.

Thank you for your support.

I look forward to what we will do together.
