Deep Squats (Thoughts)

From Kamini:
Hi Tim,
Tour du Mont Blanc was an unforgettable adventure — 105 miles, 30,000 feet of elevation gain and descent, 11 mountain passes, and 8 stunning valleys, all in just 10 days. Every single day tested my limits. Steep climbs that burned the legs, descents that punished the knees, and moments when I had to consciously manage my breath and heart rate — my CFPA coaches’ voices echoing in my head — just to keep moving forward.

And yet, when I look back, what stands out isn’t the pain or the fatigue, but the beauty, the exhilaration, and the feeling of being fully alive in some of the most awe-inspiring landscapes on Earth. Even when the weather threw us fog, rain, or gusting winds, it was always the perfect day to hike.

What made the journey extra special were the people we met along the way — fellow travelers each carrying their own stories. A women’s hiking group from Virginia. A group of doctors who had graduated together from medical school in India in 1989. Three lifelong friends nearing 60 who’d known each other since the second grade. And many more.

This trek wasn’t just about the miles or the mountains — it was about shared resilience, connection, and the quiet power of putting one foot in front of the other. I have come back with sore legs, a full heart, and a deep gratitude for every step.

After Jen’s Drop-In from Hawaii:

“Well, I went, and I finished, but damn these were some strong folks!” Now that is some Aloha spirit!

Shout out to Bill (below) with his 15 year anniversary at CFPA! Thank you, Bill. AND he’s tracked it all in just TWO notebooks. Amazing.

We are so blessed to have many more 15+ year members. There is no greater marketing scheme than our own walking billboards exemplifying the long term sustainability of CrossFit and the methodology employed at CFPA.

See you in class.
Tim

Lord of the Flies by: William Golding

At the dawn of the next world war, a plane crashes on an uncharted island, stranding a group of schoolboys. At first, with no adult supervision, their freedom is something to celebrate; this far from civilization the boys can do anything they want. Anything.

They attempt to forge their own society, failing, however, in the face of terror, sin and evil. And as order collapses, as strange howls echo in the night, as terror begins its reign, the hope of adventure seems as far from reality as the hope of being rescued. Labeled a parable, an allegory, a myth, a morality tale, a parody, a political treatise, even a vision of the apocalypse, Lord of the Flies is perhaps our most memorable novel about “the end of innocence, the darkness of man’s heart.”

Tim’s Takeaway: My son is reading this for English class and I thought I’d take a trip down memory lane by listening to it. The Spotify Version is read by the author and I enjoyed it. A real classic with plenty of fodder for conversation.

Thank you for your support.

I look forward to what we will do together.
