Pumpkin Spiced Life

Your Deep Squats (Thoughts)

I love a good pumpkin spice.

Yeah, I said it. Does that make me “basic”? My kids would say I’m “based”. Are those the same? I don’t know. As the waves of pumpkin spice aroma fill the air, I’m going to encourage you to not be bothered either way. Maybe this is a sign that I’m getting older. More mature? I doubt it. But, I like what I like. If you don’t, that’s okay. I can totally expect that I will not choose something you like. (i.e. cheescake, carrot cake, cream cheese)

Anyway. Trader Joe’s has a good pumpkin spice ice cream. Just TJ’s has over 30 pumpkin spice items! I also rate their pumpkin spice waffle/pancake mix. Pair it with real maple syrup for diabetes on demand. With the start of Pumpkin Spice Season, what is your favorite item to eat, drink, smell? What’s the most ridiculous item you’ve seen?

In the spirit of admitting my affection for pumpkin spiced items, here’s a “hot take”. Stop being afraid. Be vulnerable. Put yourself out there. Introduce yourself. Share something personal. Share something you like. Or better yet, ask somebody a question about themselves, what they like, etc. It can be in the gym or work. Maybe it makes you open to ridicule. So what? I’m a Detroit Lions fan for crying out loud!

I’ve shared the idea from Graham Betchart before that, “Victory goes to the vulnerable.” Have the courage to go “All in.” Then, have compassion with yourself and the result. This is such a liberating way of living. And a much better way of actually getting what you want. It’s rare that your fairy godmother is going to show up and just grant your unexpressed wishes.

So this week is about encouraging you to get out of your comfort zone. Stop being the wallflower waiting to be asked to dance or talk. Be assertive and challenge yourself. We all do this in the gym. We choose physical discomfort because we know it’s good for our physical, mental and emotional well being. Now let’s lean into a little social discomfort and see what happens.

You just might find that you like the thrill of it and it makes you stronger and better. Like doing CrossFit.

See you in class.

Reacher Season 4

The 4th season is based on Gone Tomorrow by Lee Child. The story follows Reacher, a former major in the United States Army Military Police Corps, who has an encounter with a troubled woman on a train that takes a dangerous turn, and finds himself caught up in a complex and deadly conspiracy involving a missing USB drive, and enemies at the highest rank of power.

Tim’s Takeaway: Totally cheesy by this point. The Reacher series is a fun trip to fantasy vigilante land with endless ammunition gun battles. The good guys can’t miss and the bad guys shoot automatic weapons with accuracy like they were taught by Storm Troopers.

Thank you for your support.

I look forward to what we will do together.
