The CrossFir Games Are Here

Deep Squats (Thoughts)

We had some fit visitors stop by this week in their preparation for The CrossFit Games this week. Good luck to Huw Davis from Scotland competing in the 40-44 age group. And we wish the best for CrossFit Sodra Wattern from Sweden, who qualified in 2nd at The French Throwdown.

The CrossFit Games are the ultimate manifestation of what we do every day—taken to the extreme.
They demonstrate the extraordinary potential of human fitness: maximum work capacity across broad time and modal domains. The athletes must lift, run, jump, climb, swim, cycle, perform advanced gymnastics and adapt to whatever challenge is put in front of them. They are specialists at not specializing.

But it’s important to remember that extreme fitness or, more accurately, extreme athletic performance, is not necessarily extreme wellness on CrossFit’s sickness-wellness-fitness continuum.

As in every professional sport, elite CrossFit athletes push their bodies to the outer limits of performance. The training volume required to compete at that level can increase the risk of overuse injuries, acute injuries, physical burnout and other conditions that can negatively affect long-term wellness. The CrossFit Games measure competitive performance—not perfect health.

For most of us, CrossFit serves a different purpose. We train to become stronger, healthier, more capable and more resilient. We want to improve our quality of life, protect our independence and be prepared for whatever challenges life throws at us.

So, look to the Games athletes for inspiration. Let their performances motivate you to train harder, move better and pursue your own potential. Enjoy the Games as an incredible sport and as a celebration of individual effort, perseverance and human capability.

And then come back to CFPA and keep working on the fittest, healthiest version of you.

Masters events started today. Individuals start Wednesday. Teams start Thursday. Teens/Adaptive start Friday.

NAVAGE Sinus Irrigation Machine

30 SECONDS, THREE SIMPLE STEPS PROCESS FOR A COMPLETE SINUS CLEANSE: PRIME your sinus rinse machine device, fill it with distilled or sterile bottled water, and insert a pre-measured SaltPod capsule (no mixing, no guesswork). POSITION your nostrils comfortably on the included nose pillows for a secure seal. POWER the Navge nose irrigation device, and let the system rinse + suction for a fast, refreshing cleanse in as little as 30 seconds

Tim’s Takeaway: Better than a self-help book. We use this all the time. Luke has one at school and Natalie will have one at college. Use this as soon as you feel congested for immediate relief. Then use it a couple times a day for a few more days. We’ve been able to shorten, or eliminate, sinus colds that lead to infections. We also use it preventatively after plane flights and tournaments.

Thank you for your support.

I look forward to what we will do together.
