Very CFPA

17th Annual New Year’s Day Murph
“You have to have a full life to be able to create. You can’t create from emptiness.”
– Very Ralph Documentary

Deep Squats (Thoughts)
I suppose that there are people out there that don’t like to be inspired. Those people are probably not on this list. At least not anymore, since they probably unsubscribed.
Below, in Timfluencing, is information on yet another movie I watched on a plane. I also re-watched “14 Peaks: Nothing is Impossible” on Netflix on the plane. Two perfect movies to start the year. I am so inspired by people that are driven to get after it and do more than “average”. They want to contribute to the world and make lives better.
In Very Ralph, I felt challenged to fill my life. It’s easy to have a busy life. But is it meaningful? Full of meaning. It gets me thinking about how I spend my days. About my purpose. And the next thing.
In a non-comprehensive view, my meaning comes from providing a place and opportunity for growth. Others come to CFPA to train for Life. My hope and prayer is you use this training to experience more life. “Life to the full,” if you will. I, too, train for the same. In doing so I need to be creative in how I create workouts, interactions and the environment that will provide the best experience and results.
So now I’m thinking how I can fill my life with more than busy-ness. My thoughts went to the concept of a Misogi. I need/want a challenge outside my normal day to day. I want something I have to train for so that if I don’t, failure is likely.
For reference, in 2021, on my 46th birthday, I rode my mountain bike on on all three trails of the Demo Trail System near Santa Cruz. 30 miles and 4.5 hours. So tough and so rewarding.
Google AI says: A Misogi challenge is an annual, year-defining personal quest inspired by Japanese purification rituals, involving undertaking something extremely difficult, uncomfortable, and outside your comfort zone (like an Ironman, cold plunge, or long fast) to foster personal growth, resilience, and self-discovery by confronting fears and expanding perceived limits, with the goal of a significant internal shift rather than just completing a task. The focus is on the journey of preparation and perseverance, learning what you’re truly capable of, and transforming how you approach life for the following year.
Planning and prep is starting now. I have some ideas and will let you know what I decide on to keep myself accountable and maybe inspire you to try something hard that you might fail at. I’d love to hear about something big you’ve done or are YET to do.
See you in class.

Very Ralph (Full Movie)
A documentary about the origin and the upgrowth of the fashion label Ralph Lauren. Watch it on HBO Max or with the link above on YouTube.
Tim’s Takeaway: This is about SO MUCH MORE than fashion or clothing. I’m blown away by the detail and intricacy that went, and goes, into decisions about style. I have the same style as I had in high school or college. But, Ralph Lauren tells a story with design and I’m here for it. It also makes me wonder, “What’s the story my style is telling?”
Thank you for your support.
I look forward to what we will do together.
