Deep Squats (Thoughts)
As we wrap up the last classes before the end of 2025, thank you for another year!
READ THROUGH TO THE END FOR A SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT!
When we were just starting out in 2009 I had no idea what I was doing. (Spoiler alert: I still feel this way multiple times a day.) What I did know was that I wanted to start 2010 in a memorable fashion. Thus, four of us showed up on 1/1/2010 to do Murph in what we now call “The Flower Shop”. Our first two members, Seth and Nick, joined Kristen and I. No pictures. And no idea how long it took. But, it started a phenomenal year for CFPA.
In 2010 I would go full time with the gym when Luke was born in June. We moved into the Grant Ave location in October. In December we started the Whitten Christmas tradition. 2010 was quite a year.
Now, I’m not saying you’re guaranteed to have an epic year because you join us for Murph on New Year’s Day at 9am. BUT, like the Powerball or Lottery, you don’t have a chance if you don’t play. So, I’m strongly encouraging you to join us on Thursday for the 17th Annual New Year’s Day Murph.
The workout can be scaled to whatever level is needed. Most importantly, we want to see you and start another year with the best people we know.
We are also starting a NEW TRADITION immediately after Murph. There will be a Post Murph Swap Meet for you to bring your unwanted gifts, candy, cookies, etc. to put on a table for anyone to take away. Of course, you will be able to take what anyone else brings, too. That’s it. We want it to be simple.
We’ll supply the tables. You supply the stuff. Anything not taken will be donated.
NOTE: This is not your dumping zone to unload your old junk. Let’s keep it to the new stuff you don’t actually want. Thanks.
See you in class.
Tim

Pour Your Heart Into It by: Howard Schultz
The success of Starbucks Coffee Company is one of the most amazing business stories in decades. What started as a single store on Seattle’s waterfront has grown into a company with stores worldwide. In Pour Your Heart Into It , CEO Howard Schultz illustrates the principles that have shaped the Starbucks phenomenon, sharing the wisdom he has gained from his quest to make great coffee part of the American experience. Marketers, managers, and aspiring entrepreneurs will discover how to turn passion into profit in this definitive chronicle of the company that “has changed everything . . . from our tastes to our language to the face of Main Street.”
Tim’s Takeaway: Many years ago I listened to Howard’s “Onward” and liked it very much. This is from his early days and how he got into Starbucks to begin with. I love the passion that he brings to business and his desire to win. I especially liked the quote included above regarding companies needing to stand for something. This idea is visited many times throughout the year to define that something and to make sure we’re standing by it.
Thank you for your support.
I look forward to what we will do together.
