Five Thousands Words Worth

“Is your will to win for sale?” – Ed Mylett

Tims Deep Squats (Thoughts)

CrossFit Palo Alto has been an affiliate for 15 years and we just renewed for year 16.

I chose to lead with 5 photos from our past to take the place of the 5,000 words I could write about this experience. The last photo, from Memorial Day Murph 2024, sums it up the best. CFPA is still here because of the people in it. Thank you. You make this place a joy to come to every day for your fellow members and the coaches that lead you.

We are eternally grateful for the opportunity to know you and be a part of your lives. You are also a part of our lives. We’ve grown up together and seen each other’s kids grow up. Ups and Downs and Sideways. There is a lot of talk in the media about “Community” and its importance in life. Step into CFPA and you’ll soon learn that community is a conversation away. I have gotten old enough to start sounding like my parents when I say, “If you want a friend, you have to be a friend.” And there is nothing but opportunity for lifelong friendships at a CrossFit affiliate.

We look forward to many more years to come with you, your families and those that are yet to discover this thing called CrossFit.

Yours in Fitness,

Tim, Kristen, Nicole, Natalie and Luke

Running with Sherman: Christopher McDougall

“When Chris McDougall agreed to take in a donkey from an animal hoarder, he thought it would be no harder than the rest of the adjustments he and his family had made after moving from Philadelphia to the heart of Pennsylvania Amish country. But when he arrived, Sherman was in such bad shape he could barely move, and his hair was coming out in clumps. Chris decided to undertake a radical rehabilitation program designed not only to heal Sherman’s body but to heal his mind as well. It turns out the best way to soothe a donkey is to give it a job, and so Chris decided to teach Sherman how to run. He’d heard about burro racing–a unique type of race where humans and donkeys run together in a call-back to mining days–and decided he and Sherman would enter the World Championship in Colorado.”

Tim’s Takeaway: You are going to want a donkey. Or some other type of farm animal. At least Kristen does. It is a life goal to get my wife a donkey.

Thank you for your support.

I look forward to what we will do together.
