Running in the Moonlight

“The bigger the WHY, the easier the HOW.” – Jim Rohn

Mike’s Deep Squats (Thoughts)

Hey Coach Tim,

I ran a 10k last night. First event with an actual bib and timing chip in a long time. I signed up the day before because my son was walking the 5k with some friends.

I had no expectations but was targeting coming in under an hour. I did not have a watch to gauge pace. I just ran on feel. It was a flat course out on the Baylands trails.

It was a lot of fun to be in the crowd again darting around while people find their paces. The kick at the end was a blast as I had enough left to run down a bunch of people over the last 0.2, which was all CrossFit. Also, I walked the 5k with the kids before I ran the 10k.

Anyway, I was very pleased/surprised with the result and came in at a 9:19 average pace. I’ll take it at 50 (in a few weeks).

I couldn’t have done it without you and your gym. Keep up the amazing work! I’m really glad I found your spot.

See pics for factual support.

Despite some stretching and yoga last night, I’m still pretty sore and walking funny today. But it is worth it.

All the best,

Michael

Pivotal Tuesdays by: Margaret O’Mara

“Serious and silly, unifying and polarizing, presidential elections have become events that Americans love and hate. Today’s elections cost billions of dollars and consume the nation’s attention for months, filling television airwaves and online media with endless advertising and political punditry, often heated, vitriolic, and petty. Yet presidential elections also provoke and inspire mass engagement of ordinary citizens in the political system. No matter how frustrated or disinterested voters might be about politics and government, every four years, on the first Tuesday in November, the attention of the nation—and the world—focuses on the candidates, the contest, and the issues. The partisan election process has been a way for a messy, jumbled, raucous nation to come together as a slightly-more-perfect union.”

Tim’s Takeaway: This is a fun book to read/listen to. Notably, it was written by a former member that was here on sabbatical while researching and writing another book about Silicon Valley. You can check out The Code for that one.

Thank you for your support.

I look forward to what we will do together.
