Every Pound Is A Minute

“Crying – acceptable at funerals and the Grand Canyon.” – Ron Swanson

Community Squats (Thoughts)

Hi Tim and Andrew,

I completed the Grand Canyon North Rim to South Rim hike last weekend and can safely say this was the most challenging physical thing I have done in my life (so far).

Going down into the canyon started at 3:30am and spanned 16 miles. Most of the hike was in 107-degree heat with direct sun beating down on us. Next day started at 5:30am to ascend 5000 feet over 10 miles.

Your voices were in my brain. I determined if I set a steady pace I can do this just as I would do a 10 minute AMRAP or a 5K row. That worked for the first 5-6 miles and then the tired legs, scorching heat and sun started taking over. I leaned into your next advice to take short manageable breaks.

What kept me going for the last 2 miles was the thought that anyone can do 2 miles. Even if I must crawl my way up the path. I was dying in those moments, but looking back I can say that it wasn’t that bad. Would I do it again? Let me think about it.

Congratulations, Kamini! This is EXACTLY the type of thing we love to see and hear about. We exist to support you in doing the things you want to do in life. I look forward to the next testimonial. Who has another story of how CrossFit has helped you achieve something. Maybe it’s the hardest thing in your life. Maybe it’s the mundane of the everyday. I love seeing all of it.
