YOUR Deep Squats (Thoughts)

Carm:

Why did you start CrossFit?

My son was about two-years-old when I (finally!) made the decision to prioritize myself and my health. I started going on short runs on my own and eventually started trying pretty much any instructor-led classes I was able to find.

My son is 15 now; so, there were limited options “back then” (LOL!). I am the type of person that is open and willing to try anything once or at least allow for enough time to give it a decent chance. If it does not continue to peak my interest or if I do not feel challenged, I will move on.

I found out a couple of my colleagues were signed up for the Foundations program at a CrossFit gym in SF. CrossFit was not well known at that time; so, I was interested in finding out more after hearing them describe what CrossFit was. I “Googled” it and searched for the closest one I could find around my work because I would work out before or after work. In the summer of 2010 I found CFPA, emailed Tim, and the rest is history…

Why keep coming back?

So many reasons why! I will try to narrow it down because I could go on forever.

Tim is the only “instructor”/coach I have encountered who I felt truly LOVES to teach and wants what is best for anyone (not just his members). I have dropped into a fair amount of local CrossFit gyms and also when I travel. For me, Tim’s style works for me and is what I need to keep me motivated to show up.

CrossFit workouts are “constantly varied” and they continue to challenge and surprise me.

THE COMMUNITY! As mentioned above, I have visited several gyms and have tried multiple fitness classes. The CFPA community is amazing. I have grown with and have grown close to many people who joined prior to me and after me. I have been on trips with our families together, have shared dinner tables at their homes, and have had many “outside of the gym” hangouts. I have never experienced this comfort anywhere else.

THANK YOU CFPA and TIM!
