YOUR Deep Squats (Thoughts)

Rashmi:

Why did you start CrossFit?

The last few years of my life have been really tough. In response I became a couch potato. A close friend of mine who comes to CFPA had been talking about it for years, and one fine day, fed-up with my deconditioning, I decided to give it a go!

When did you start?

I started at the end of July 2023.

Why do you keep coming back?

From day one, I have reconnected with the joy of movement and strength that a human body is capable of. My community is the all-women class, and they cheered me on (they still do, even though I am relatively stronger now). There is great camaraderie here. Tim has been astute in assessing my capabilities, and he pared down the exercises with the right level of challenge for me, and has helped me build up my strength and flexibility at a steady pace that works for me. The non-judgemental, humor-oriented, hard-working atmosphere really motivates me here!

Matt:

Why did you start CrossFit?

After years of not working out, being busy with kids and work, I was looking for something different to reinvent myself. Somthing to help jump start my fitness while being a challenge. This is when I thought of CrossFit Palo Alto, right near my house.

When did you start?

I started in August 2022.

Why do you keep coming back?

I keep coming back because I always feel better after leaving the CrossFit gym. Not only physically, but mentally. There is personal satisfaction in doing these difficult workouts. I like that we just show up and the routine is all planned out. I also like that each workout is different, and the intensity, which can’t be recreated elsewhere. Last but not least, you get some good comedy with Tim’s jokes. : )

Note: The intent was to get a sampling of newer members and some of our more tenured members. But, the stories from our long-timers are too good to summarize and cut down. Those experiences will be forthcoming.
